Starting February 2, 2025, New Yorkers will be able to visit the 9/11 Memorial & Museum for free on the first Sunday of each month. This initiative marks a significant change in accessibility for residents wishing to engage with one of the city’s most important historical sites. Previously, the museum had offered free admission on the first Monday of each month, but this new program expands the opportunity to reflect and remember on Sundays, a day often dedicated to family and community activities. With extended hours from 4 PM to 7 PM, this initiative allows locals to experience the museum’s poignant exhibits without the burden of an entry fee.
Thanks to a generous philanthropic grant of $500,000 from the Carnegie Corporation of New York, this program aims to create a welcoming environment for those who live, work, or study in New York City. Visitors simply need to show a valid ID upon entry. The 9/11 Memorial & Museum has been a cornerstone of Lower Manhattan since its dedication a decade ago, and this new arrangement reinforces its commitment to community engagement.
